In particular, CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing was applied to the potato cultivar Désirée to obtain plants with increased resistance to pathogens. Gene knockouts were performed for CML30, CML38, and WAK12, which play a role in the plant immune response. The results showed that gene modifications affected the morphological characteristics of the plants. Additionally, the study examined the toxicity of manganese (Mn) for Spirodela polyrhiza duckweed, a plant with potential for phytoremediation. It was found that increased Mn concentrations activate biochemical pathways influencing plant metabolism. Herbicide-resistant lines of winter rapeseed were also developed, incorporating genes conferring resistance to glyphosate and phosphinothricin. Furthermore, the role of the ZRNase II gene in enhancing plant resistance to phytoviruses was investigated.
