The purpose of the study is to develop practical methods for preventing the development of erosion processes during mountain logging. Research methods: analytical and field studies of the location and current state of primary timber transportation routes, applied timber skidding methods, organizational and technological aspects and requirements of regulatory documents related to this process, analysis and processing of data using mathematical statistics. An analytical review has been prepared on the impact of logging operations on the forest environment; soil sedimentation and pollution of forest streams; modeling the processes of precipitation impact on forest soil erosion; application of geographic information systems (hereinafter referred to as GIS) and scanning methods; measures to reduce the impact of logging on soil and watercourses. A methodology for conducting research for 2021 with additions and clarifications has been developed. The organizational and technical aspects of logging were studied based on maps of the technological process of developing logging areas of the region's enterprises. Using GIS and remote sensing methods, we studied the location of skid trails on mountain slopes in different natural and production conditions. In accordance with the terms of reference for the research work, the Procedure for Assessing the Skidder Network in Mountain Forest Watersheds was developed. In its preparation, in addition to the results of the research, scientific developments of previous years and foreign and domestic experience in organizing primary transportation of timber in mountainous conditions using ground-based skidding equipment were used.
