Digital technologies are changing the world so dramatically that it has become commonplace to focus on this. However, this applies more to economic processes, where digitalization and automation based on it have become commonplace. Nevertheless, the world political process in the era of digital communication is undergoing radical transformation. The need to understand the directions and consequences of digitalization and virtualization of such traditional instruments of international relations as war and diplomacy makes scientific research in this area relevant. The methodology for the study of international relations in the digital age has been studied. The basis of the conceptual and theoretical stage of studying the issue of borders in publications of political, political and geographical and related content; analysis of previous scientific work; study of basic theories and concepts of the formation and functioning of the border. An important task of this stage was to develop a general scheme of the object of research and its structure (elements, functions, institutions and administrative bodies). One of the primary tasks of the conceptual and theoretical stage was to identify the system of political relations, as well as the role of state institutions in the formation and functioning of the state border.
