The object of the research is legal relations that arise during the provision of the rights of the victim in criminal proceedings. The subject of the research is the protection of the rights and legitimate interests of the victim of a road accident in criminal proceedings. The main tasks of the research work are determined taking into account the specifics of the purpose and subject of the research: the content of the legal regulation of the protection of the rights and legitimate interests of the victim of a road accident in criminal proceedings is determined; proposals are made regarding the introduction of international standards and the use in Ukraine of providing professional legal assistance to the victim of a road accident in criminal proceedings; the criminal-legal foundations of the protection of the rights and legitimate interests of the victim of a road accident in criminal proceedings are outlined; procedural problems of protecting the rights and legitimate interests of a road accident victim in criminal proceedings have been identified and ways of solving them have been proposed; organizational and tactical principles of representing a road accident victim in criminal proceedings have been formulated; features have been identified and algorithms have been developed for protecting the rights and legitimate interests of a road accident victim at the initial and subsequent stages of pre-trial investigation; a methodology for using the institute of special knowledge in protecting the rights and legitimate interests of a road accident victim at the stage of pre-trial investigation has been developed.
