The social history of Ukraine in 1985–1991 contains a significant amount of insufficiently researched topics that can serve as the basis for objective coverage of the events of the recent past. The experience of “perestroika” demonstrates examples of overcoming ideological influence, when society gradually freed itself from communist myths, rethinking existing social practices. The purpose of the research is to analyze, in the context of social history, the political, economic, ethno-national, cultural, and other changes that took place in Ukraine in 1985–1991. The factor of incompleteness of the reforms of the “perestroika” period as one of the prerequisites for Russia’s aggression against Ukraine is investigated, and the scientific and theoretical conclusions of the “perestroika” phenomenon are outlined. In conclusion, it is proven that Russia's aggression against Ukraine is partly due to historical and political factors, the roots of which go back to the unfinished processes of the "perestroika" period. The author's research also touched on specific topical problems of the time. For example, distrust and dissatisfaction of people and communities in the practices of resistance to change; social strategies and practices of the nomenclature; new forms of existence such as: cooperative movement, spontaneous bazaars, etc.; religious situation in the Ukrainian SSR and transformations of the Soviet archetype; years of "perestroika" in the life of rural communities; socio-political and technological prerequisites of the Chernobyl accident; state "anti-Zionism". Based on the results of the research, a collective monograph and another 112 texts were published. Product Description popup.authors Bezliudna Iryna V. Bondarchuk Petro M. Vasylieva Natalia F.
