Head Vasyl V. Kuryliuk, Кандидат фізико-математичних наук Registration Date 27-04-2025 Organization Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv popup.description1 The main goal of the Project is to develop a scientific approach to design new biocompatible ceramic materials suited as durable wear-resistant coatings for medical instruments. Such nanocomposite materials will be obtained by reactive hot pressing of the charge containing new multicomponent carbides synthesized by mechanochemical alloying. popup.description2  A comprehensive review of the extant literature on biocompatibility and the properties of medical materials in conjunction with a critical evaluation of existing polycarbides have justified the experimental stage of the work. This involved the mechanical alloying of biocompatible compounds of TiC and VN with varying compositions, with the objective of enhancing the functional properties of medical titanium. The study's findings, particularly those pertaining to the kinetics of phase and structural transformations during the interaction of TiC with VN, have enabled the modelling of the physical processes occurring during mechanical treatment in the solid-phase interaction of the components of the charge. The transformation of the crystal structure of the interacting compounds, the existing distortions of the crystal lattice and the accompanying microdeformation, as well as the results of calculating the parameters of the electronic states of DOS, were used as parameters for describing this process. As a result, certified samples of mixtures of polycarbide (Ti,V)C and polynitride (V,Ti)N containing up to 7 at.% of the dissolved component were obtained. Subsequent to the acquisition of data concerning the kinetics of phase transformations of the treated TiC-VN mixture, endeavours have commenced on the two-stage mechanical alloying of (Ti,V)C polycarbide, wherein graphite, titanium and VN powders are employed as components of the charge.
