These include, for example, military actions, terrorist attacks, accidents or natural disasters, catastrophes, severe physical injuries, domestic or sexual violence, the threat of death, and witnessing or being the cause or instigator of someone else's death. PTSD is not a consequence of increased mental imbalance or a manifestation of a (mental) illness. Even mentally sound and confident people can develop PTSD. PTSD is the body's attempt to survive a threatening, sometimes life-threatening situation. Therefore, PTSD reactions are not caused by a disorder (malfunction), but by “health”, that is, it is a physiological protective and expedient response of the body, aimed at protecting a person from a risky dangerous situation. PTSD manifests itself as a delayed response of the body to stress. According to doctors, its effect is observed at least four weeks after the traumatic event. In today's conditions in Ukraine, due to prolonged hostilities in the war with Russia, the number of patients of different ages with stress disorders is steadily increasing, because not only military personnel at the front suffer, but also civilians who have left their places of residence and become refugees and persons with a temporary place of residence.
