Registration Date 07-05-2025 Organization Institute of Philosophy the H.Skovoroda National Ukrainian Academy of sciences popup.description1 The main problem of the proposed study, the understanding of which will determine the content of the work, will be to clarify the essence of the pragmatic turn in the broadest sense of its meaning (as an appeal of philosophers to life-practical problems, as opposition to the previous speculative subject) and in the narrow sense (as attempts to synthesize analytical and continental philosophical traditions). The study will also focus not only on the practical and theoretical significance of the evolution of ideas and methodological principles of pragmatic turn, but also on its boundaries, ways of further development and alternative projects of modern philosophizing. (Hillary Putnam, Richard Rorty, Mike Sandbot, Albrecht Wellmer, Wolfgang Welsh, etc.). Consistent clarification of these problems appears as the main idea of the study and depends largely on the answer to the question of whether existing projects of transcendental pragmatics can be considered as sufficient to address many practical and philosophical issues, as quite successful rational strategies to legitimate norms and values. And, secondly, to explore important ways to overcome practical normativism, which ignores the benefits and values of human existence, by further seeking a synthesis of analytical and hermeneutic traditions of philosophizing, research on intersubjectivity, the phenomenon of truth within discourse and lifeworld, comprehension of the meaning and ways of filling the transcendental argument with concrete content. popup.description2  The study found that the world is undergoing an epoch-making civilizational transformation, the main feature of which is the “green transition” of the global community to renewable energy, which is taking place in the context of economic and hybrid wars and military-political confrontation between democratic and totalitarian societies, with Ukraine at the center of it. Since the 1970s, neo-pragmatic theories have been developing on the basis of a dynamic conception of knowledge that emphasizes its evolutionary nature and the crucial role of trial and error. In this context, the key figures were Robert Brandom, Hilary Putnam, and, above all, Richard Rorty, who significantly influenced the further development of pragmatism by integrating the ideas of the linguistic turn. One of the results of this research is a rethinking of the role of truth: neopragmatism departs from classical pragmatic approaches and considers truth as a linguistic and social construct that is formed in communication processes. In particular, Rorty rejects the traditional understanding of truth as a correspondence to reality, proposing instead to see it as a product of discursive practices. Putnam, on the contrary, sought to find a balance between pragmatism and realism, developing the concept of “internal realism,” where truth remains a function of coherence within a particular language game. Thus, research in the field of neopragmatism demonstrates a shift from objectivist models of knowledge to concepts that emphasize the contextuality of knowledge, its variability, and its close connection to social and communicative practices.
