The purpose of the study is to develop proposals for improving approaches to the application of the risk management system to determine the need for post-clearance control. The theoretical foundations of the risk management system as a mechanism for improving the efficiency of post-clearance control are studied. The prerequisites for the application of the risk management system in the context of international law and its evolutionary development in Ukraine are outlined. The author summarizes the foreign experience of using the risk management system in the process of post-customs control. The article examines the domestic regulatory framework for post-clearance control and application of the risk management system after release of goods, highlights the features and outlines potential areas for improving the mechanism for applying the risk management system in the field of post-clearance control. The author characterizes the impact of the introduction of post-clearance control on the general state of simplification of customs procedures performed during customs clearance. The article presents the existing mechanism for applying the risk management system for the purposes of post-customs control and studies the main elements of its internal and external subsystems. The author formulates and scientifically substantiates proposals for improving the mechanism of application of the risk management system in the field of post-customs control by preparing relevant departmental acts of an organizational and administrative nature, which will help to eliminate some of the problematic aspects, contribute to improving the efficiency of customs control and reducing the number of violations, and ensure transparency and reliability of the work of customs authorities.
