Aim of the study: development and substantiation of the methodology for implementing a set of activities aimed at intensifying the hunting sector in Ukraine to increase the number of ungulate species to an optimal level Methodology of the study: field, theoretical and empirical methods using the analysis and compilation of practical experience, records, and statistical and legal documents. The characteristics of the food supply, diets, and reserves of primary forage for wild ungulates in the natural zone of Crimea were established. Factors influencing the structure of diets and food reserves throughout the year were identified for this region. The methodology for assessing natural forage reserves for game ungulates and determining their optimal population density on hunting lands was further developed. Work continued on establishing trial plots to determine critical seasonal forage reserves for ungulates.
