M. Vysotsky popup.description1 To specify current composition of harmful organisms associations, peculiarities of their biology, seasonal development, spread and harmfulness for the main forest-forming tree species under climate change popup.description2 Study object: harmful insects and forest pathogens. Aim of the study: to specify current composition of harmful organisms associations, peculiarities of their biology, seasonal development, spread and harmfulness for the main forest-forming tree species under climate change. Methodology of the study: methods of comparative ecology, entomology, mycology, silviculture, and forestry, along with statistical analysis and original approaches for assessing and predicting the distribution and harmfulness of organisms, specifically developed by the authors for phytophagous insects. The probability of spatial spreading of the emerald ash borer and the oak lace bug has been modeled taking into account climatic indicators and characteristics of tree stands. The spreading of the alien acorn pest, the Blastobasis glandulella moth, was proven in a number of regions of Ukraine. It was also proven that this insect also damages the fruits of plants of the genera Juglans and Aesculus. A score assessment of the spreading and harmfulness of more than 70 species of stem pests of poplars and aspens was made. DNA extraction from more than 200 samples (ash borer beetles, wood from the burrows of ash borer larvae, ash borer beetles) and sequencing of clonally amplified DNA matrices on a mass scale using the next-generation sequencing (NGS) method have been carried out.
