Aim of the study: to specify current composition of harmful organisms associations, peculiarities of their biology, seasonal development, spread and harmfulness for the main forest-forming tree species under climate change. Methodology of the study: methods of comparative ecology, entomology, mycology, silviculture, and forestry, along with statistical analysis and original approaches for assessing and predicting the distribution and harmfulness of organisms, specifically developed by the authors for phytophagous insects. The biological characteristics and distribution boundaries of several invasive pests were clarified, including the emerald ash borer (Agrilus planipennis), the oak lace bug (Corythucha arcuata), and the acorn moth (Blastobasis glandulella). The patterns of distribution of bacterial infections, Dutch elm disease, root rot, and bark beetles in Ulmus spp. stands were also identified. In addition, the seasonal and long-term dynamics of xylophagous insects and their entomophagous natural enemies were analyzed, along with an assessment of the health status of pine trees in bark beetle outbreak areas.
