Aim of the study: improving of methodological approaches to selection and evaluation of the breeding material of indigenous and introduced woody plants based on the study of their intraspecific variability and adaptive response, including their resistance to climate change. Methodology of the study: comparative-ecological, mensurational, breeding and seed production methods, as well as morphological, anatomical, cytological, biochemical, mathematical-statistical approaches. The results of the survey of genetic reserves, plus trees and selection of new plus trees were analysed. The findings of the study of natural pro venance trial plantations, progeny tests and other research tests of native and introduced species were analysed. The survivability of breeding material was estimated, and the methods of its estimation were improved.
