Aim of the study: improving of methodological approaches to selection and evaluation of the breeding material of indigenous and introduced woody plants based on the study of their intraspecific variability and adaptive response, including their resistance to climate change. Methodology of the study: comparative-ecological, mensurational, breeding and seed production methods, as well as morphological, anatomical, cytological, biochemical, mathematical-statistical approaches. Markers of resistance of Scots pine of different geographical origins to climate change have been determined. The adaptive potential of various Ukrainian poplar hybrids to low temperatures and prolonged drought has been determined. Methods for sterilization of Betula pendula var. Carelica and varieties of the genera Salix, Populus, and Corylus have been improved depending on the genotype and condition of explants in vitro.
