The subject of the study is the functioning regularities of removable modules under operational modes of the loads. The purpose of the work is to solve a scientific and applied problem - increasing the efficiency of rail vehicles functioning by implementing design solutions for the transportation of strategic cargoes. The research methods: the classical methods of “Resistance of Materials” and “Structural Mechanics”; the methods of derivation of differential equations of motion of mechanical systems, in particular the Lagrange's method of the second kind; the methods of “Higher Mathematics”, in particular the Runge-Kutta method, which is implemented in the MathCad software package; the methods of mathematical statistics; the finite element method, which is implemented in the SolidWorks Simulation software package. An analysis of the prospects for the functioning of container transportation in Ukraine was carried out. The main schemes of the container loads in operation were studied. Concepts of rail vehicles intended to transport strategic cargoes were proposed. Mathematical modelling of the dynamic loads of rail vehicle concepts under the different operational load schemes was carried out. The corresponding regularities of the loads of the rail vehicles’ concepts were obtained. The results of strength calculations confirmed the feasibility of the structural solutions of the proposed concepts. The results of the work were transferred for the purpose of further implementation to the State Enterprise “Ukrainian Scientific Railway Car Building Research Institute”. The results of the work are also used in the educational process of the Ukrainian State University of Railway Transport.
