The object of the study is legal relations that arise during the organization and conduct of a special pre-trial investigation, as well as the activities of authorized entities in this process. The subject of the study is a special pre-trial investigation. Research methods are selected based on the defined goals and objectives, taking into account the object and subject: formal and logical analysis of legislation to identify gaps in the regulation of a special pre-trial investigation, a comparative legal method to study international experience and its adaptation to Ukrainian realities, as well as empirical methods (analysis of judicial practice, expert surveys) to assess the effectiveness of conducting a special pre-trial investigation. Results obtained: methodological recommendations have been prepared, which consider the main issues of conducting a special pre-trial investigation. The concept of a special pre-trial investigation, the grounds and conditions for its implementation are disclosed, the procedure for preparing a motion by an investigator or prosecutor to conduct a special pre-trial investigation and its consideration by an investigating judge is determined, the procedural procedure and practice of serving procedural documents are discussed, and the peculiarities of the defense attorney's activities are considered.
