The style and technique of the products created in this convent defined the new fundamental principles of the Ukrainian art of gold-embroidery that appeared in the middle – latter half of the 18th century. Preserved monuments and archival materials help studying the main stages of the development of the Florivsky gold-embroidery workshop. LITURGICAL TEXTILES, EMBROIDERY WORKSHOP, KYIV FLORIVSKYI VOZNESENSKIY (ASCENSION) MONASTERY, ART CENTER, CHURCH EMBROIDERY The research object is Ukrainian church embroidery of the 18th c. as a component of the sacred art of Ukraine. The research aim is to study the process of formation and development of the Florivskyi Voznesenskiy (Ascension) Monastery’s embroidery workshop as a leading Kyiv center of gold embroidery in 18th c. The research methodological basis is provided by the principles of historicism, objectivity, scientific, comprehensiveness. The study applies interdisciplinary, historical, cultural, socio-cultural approaches, the principles of historicism, systematicity, which made possible a comprehensive vision of the activities of the embroidery workshop of the Monastery in the context of Ukrainian sacred art. A combination of general scientific, specific scientific, art historical methods of research was also used. The application of modern interdisciplinary approaches allowed to comprehensively explore the social, economic, and artistic dimensions of the craftswomen’s activities, revealing the uniqueness of the Florivskyi embroidery style. The research reveals the prerequisites for the formation and development of the embroidery artcraft in Monastery; characterizes the process of ordering and manufacturing of embroidered liturgical cloths by nuns-masters; reveals stylistic, technical and technological features inherent in the works of the Florivskyi embroidery center; outlines the range and clarifies the attribution of gold sewing items – works of the Florivskyi embroidery workshop of the 18th c. from the National Preserve “Kyiv Pechersk Lavra” collection. The research results can be used in scientific and exhibition, museum and educational work, which will contribute to the integration of the museum institution into the system of the intellectual and museum European community.
