The purpose of the work is to develop methods for modeling objects and processes of the technosphere, research new geometric models of objects and processes, and develop new approaches to improve the level of training of students in the discipline "Engineering and Computer Graphics". The research method is geometric and computer modeling. Traditionally, scientific work at the department was carried out in two main areas: - research into various aspects of modeling, design and analysis of the geometry of individual parts and assemblies of automobiles and road vehicles, as well as solving specific problems related to this issue; - analysis and improvement of existing means of computer modeling and comprehensive analysis of assemblies (units) of machines, approaches to developing appropriate design documentation, as well as development of new algorithms for the application of existing software. To a large extent, the second direction belongs to scientific and methodological developments, and its focus in many cases is determined by the questions that arise among students of KhNADU in computer graphics classes, during the preparation of students for all-Ukrainian and international olympiads and competitions, when they perform semester and diploma projects.
