The purpose of the study is to investigate the theoretical and practical principles of ensuring the preservation of digital audiovisual documents of the National Archival Fond. The methodological basis for solving the tasks set in the research is the principles of systematicity and complexity. The research methods used are analysis and synthesis, comparison, generalization, questionnaire, interpretation, and forecasting. In the course of the research, the current legal, regulatory and methodological regulation of archival work on the storage of digital audiovisual documents was determined. The existing practical implementation of such works in the national state archives is summarized. The main mechanisms and technologies for ensuring the preservation of digital audiovisual documents of the National Archival Fond at the main stages of their archiving (in particular, in the process of receipt for storage, during storage, movement, use, control of the documents' condition, etc.) The article provides recommendations on the optimal organization of archival storage of documents in electronic form on the example of digital audiovisual documents. The key problems of ensuring the security and protection of information of such documents during storage in the archive are identified and possible solutions are proposed. As a result of the research, on the basis of generalization of theoretical and empirical material, methodological recommendations “Ensuring the Preservation of Digital Audiovisual Documents of the National Archival Fond” were developed.
