Using click-chemistry methods, new derivatives of 1,2,3- and 1,2,4-triazoles, as well as tetrazoles, were synthesized. The sequential introduction of these fragments enabled the formation of a novel polynitrogen containing system – 1,2,3-triazolyl-1,2,4-triazolyl-tetrazoles – capable of forming complexes with heavy metal ions. The obtained compounds were used to modify the surfaces of silica gel and Merrifield resin. Additionally, sorbents based on salicylaldehyde derivatives were synthesized. The resulting hybrid materials effectively extract heavy metal ions from solutions. New 1,2,3-triazole derivatives of allobetulin and dehydroepiandrosterone were synthesized. Some of them form stable gels in cyclohexanol. The main factor influencing gelation is the interaction energy of terminal substituents, particularly their ability to participate in specific or dispersive interactions. The sorption properties of the hybrid materials toward Eu(III), Cu(II), Cd(II), Sr(II), and Pb(II) ions were evaluated. The most effective sorbent — based on Merrifield resin modified with triazole and tetrazole fragments — showed up to 99% extraction of Eu(III) and 96% of Pb(II) from aqueous solutions at pH 6.5–7.0. The material based on a salicylaldehyde derivative exhibits increased selectivity toward Eu(III) in the presence of Cu(II) and Sr(II) over time.
