The purpose of the work is to study theoretical and practical issues of ensuring human rights in the context of modern challenges and threats, in particular, violations of human and civil rights and freedoms within the framework of national and international legislation. The study is based on an interdisciplinary approach and the concept of ensuring human rights; general scientific methods were applied - dialectics, formal logic, system analysis, special scientific methods - formal-legal, comparative-legal and others. Theoretical and practical results consist in organizing and conducting scientific and practical conferences, round tables, publishing monographs and professional scientific articles. During the study, a theoretical and legal analysis of the best practices of the experience of foreign countries that have achieved success in protecting human rights was carried out. The main factors that influence the improvement of the mechanism for protecting human rights were identified: expanding the powers of the Ombudsman and other human rights defenders, simplifying citizens' access to justice; ensuring the independence of the judicial system; guaranteeing judges independence in decision-making, combating corruption in the judicial system, and improving the legal culture of society. Scientific and methodological recommendations and practical proposals were formulated aimed at improving educational programs and curricula in the specialty "Law" to increase the competitiveness of specialists in the national and international markets of legal services, as well as harmonizing the Ukrainian legal system with European standards in the context of integration processes.
