Purpose of the work: to study the strategy and tactics of health self-preservation, aimed at the formation of a healthy lifestyle and ensuring the full social functioning of the individual, his or her physical and intellectual capacity for work, sufficient adaptation to socio-natural influences and the variability of the external environment; to develop research methodologies and a program of psychophysical health preservation of the individual. Research methods: theoretical, empirical. Theoretical and practical results: the terminology related to the research problem and the peculiarities of health self-preservation, strategies, and tactics have been analyzed. Novelty: introduction into higher education of methodologies and programs of health self-preservation with appropriate criteria and indicators of the level of psychophysiological health self-preservation of the individual; implementation in the educational institution’s practice of a program for forming a person’s motivation for health self-preservation based on awareness of its personal and social value; testing and implementation of a hardware-software diagnostic complex into the system of educational work; theoretical foundations and technologies of health-improving and recreational motor activity for different groups of the population; development of practical recommendations based on the results of experimental research.
