The goal of the project is to develop and promote plasma technology for the manufacture of domestic portable devices based on dielectric barrier discharges for antiseptic wound treatment (creation of an antimicrobial environment) in the field. The project has applied significance and creates a scientific and technological basis for the use of gas-discharge plasma for the development of modern, domestic portable devices for wound disinfection in the field for high-quality home medical care at all stages of its provision.

The use of cold atmospheric plasma (CAP) in clinical trials has been largely limited to the treatment of chronic wounds, but its application in a wide range of medical fields is currently the goal of many studies. Cold atmospheric plasma reduces microbial load without any known negative effects on healthy tissues, which expands the possibilities of its use at any site of microbial infection. It also has antitumor effects. In addition, this technology has a proliferative effect on stem and other cultured cells, and the greatly increased level of nitric oxide has a very important effect on this proliferation. The use of cold atmospheric plasma may also affect immunotherapy in patients. The use of plasma devices will not remain limited to superficial applications, as current efforts to develop sufficiently miniaturized microplasma devices may likely lead to their use in subcutaneous and internal structures. Cold atmospheric plasma is used in instant sterilization, surface modification of implants and tissue engineering products. Most importantly, the less intense effects of HAAP allow its direct effect on cells and tissues, and its ability to reduce microbial load makes it a good option for replacing antibiotics and combating bacterial strains that have increasing resistance to antibiotics. The relevance of the work is associated with the development of plasma technologies and their implementation to solve a number of applied problems in military medicine - the creation of cost-effective, domestic portable devices based on optimized plasma dielectric barrier reactors for antiseptic treatment and disinfection of wounds in the field and the provision of high-quality home medical care at the stage of pre-hospital evacuation.
