The aim of the study was to determine the patterns of soil water regime formation in typical chernozem under the prolonged use of organic, mineral, and organo-mineral fertilizers, and to develop scientifically based approaches for conserving soil moisture in various agroecosystems. It was found that the reserves of productive moisture and its total consumption largely depend on the fertilization system and the structure of the crop rotation. The highest soil moisture reserves and water use were recorded under combined application of organic and mineral fertilizers (organo-mineral system), where the average moisture content in the arable layer exceeded the unfertilized control by 7–12%. Long-term absence of fertilization led to a decrease in soil water reserves, deterioration of soil structure, and reduction of its water-holding capacity. The obtained results demonstrate that organo-mineral fertilization stabilizes the soil water regime, optimizes crop growth conditions, promotes sustainable agroecosystem development, and enhances the adaptability of agricultural production to climate change. The research findings have both scientific and practical significance for the development of resource-efficient and environmentally safe technologies for cultivating sugar beet, grain, and legume crops. The results can be applied in agricultural production systems, in the preparation of fertilization recommendations, and in the educational process of agricultural higher education institutions.
