Within the project “Development of a system for determining the position and relative power of radio emission sources and their visualisation”, a new system for detecting the position of radio emission sources (RES) based on passive scanning and real-time visualisation has been developed and experimentally validated. An innovative method for RES registration was proposed and implemented: the system identifies power maxima during sequential antenna scanning and overlays the resulting radiation map onto the video stream from the UAV camera. This approach provides intuitive perception of RES locations without complex computations or spatially separated receivers. A utility model patent has been filed based on the developed method. A laboratory prototype was created, comprising a hexacopter platform with a suspended scanning module based on Raspberry Pi 5, the HackRF One digital receiver, a switched narrow-beam antenna array, and an inertial navigation unit. Dedicated software was developed for receiving, processing, and transmitting data via a LoRa communication channel to the ground station, where radiation map construction and marker overlay on live video are performed. Bench testing and antenna modelling confirmed the efficiency of the method in conditions of radio shadowing and complex terrain. The system architecture complies with STANAG 4586, STANAG 4607 and STANAG 7085, ensuring interoperability with situational awareness systems. Mounting the system on a UAV provides mobility, improved coverage, the ability to bypass radio shadows, and reduced personnel risks. Compared to foreign SIGINT solutions, the developed system features lower mass, power consumption, and cost, as it does not require phased antenna arrays and relies on compact switched directional antennas.
