The object of the study is the current problems of social, political, cultural, and economic development of Ukraine from ancient times to the present. Research methods: general scientific (analysis and synthesis, typology, classification, formal logic) and special historical (problem-thematic, chronological, comparative-historical, analytical, descriptive, retrospective). The purpose of the work: to identify insufficiently studied problems of national history, to investigate them, taking into account regional features. Results and their novelty: - the nature of political, economic, and cultural contacts between Slavic tribes and the Khazar Khaganate is analyzed; - new facts of the biography of M. M. Kovalevsky are revealed; - the development of the women's movement and the transformation of state models of women's roles since the beginning of the 20th century are highlighted. to the 1980s - the activities of the Kharkiv branch of the Ukraine-Germany Society in the field of humanitarian support in the period of the 1990s - early 2000s were analyzed; - modern strategies, institutional mechanisms and practices of protecting the cultural heritage of Ukraine were assessed. Degree of implementation: implemented in the educational process of higher and secondary schools, used to create scientific and popular science works on the history of Ukraine and the region, develop excursion routes.
