Makarenko popup.description1 Obtaining scientific information about the biological diversity of natural flora and vegetation of protected objects of Sumy region, about the spread and groups to be protected on this territory. popup.description2 During the period from 2021 to 2025, research was conducted on the study of vegetation and flora of 27 objects of the nature reserve fund of Ukraine of different rank and purpose: For each of these reserve objects, a description of natural vegetation groups was carried out, their species composition was characterized, floristic lists of higher vascular plants were compiled, a taxonomic analysis of the flora was carried out and the species diversity of higher vascular plants was analyzed. On their territory, the growth sites of 2 plant species included in Resolution No. 6 of the Bern Convention and 3 plant species listed in the Red Book of Ukraine were identified. The growth sites of 37 plant species listed in the Red Book of Ukraine and 43 species listed in the List of Regionally Rare and Endangered Plant Species in Sumy Region were confirmed. Also, groups of plants that require special protection and are listed in the Green Book of Ukraine were identified, namely the grouping of the formation of hairy feather grass, white water lily and yellow pitchers. As a result of continuous deforestation and land reclamation works, the habitats of plant species listed in the Red Book of Ukraine - snowdrop, oak tulip, forest lily, and old willow - were destroyed, which led to the disappearance of their populations. For the first time, for rare species of higher vascular plants growing on the territory of the surveyed protected areas, data were obtained on the total number of protected species in areas of a certain type of environment, their location, the number of areas where each of the species that require protection is present, as well as the coordinates of their growth, which were calculated using the online service www.google. com.ua/maps/ and are displayed on the global biological data platform GBIF.
