Create new 2n, 4n, 6n intensive type lines with high adaptive potential. popup.description2 A study was conducted on the morphological traits of pollen grain size, fertility, stigma shape and size, and the characteristics of pollen tube growth, and embryogenesis during directed 6n/2n hybridization to overcome genetic incompatibility and create tetraploid forms. The state of the gametophyte and sporophyte of wild and cultivated oat forms was determined, as well as the causes of their incompatibility during hybridization (a significant amount of sterile and underdeveloped pollen, poor pollen grain germination on the stigma, failure of zygote formation after sperm penetration into the egg cell, or subsequent zygote death). To obtain polyploids of cultivated oat (Avena sativa), the most optimal concentration of colchicine was 0.01%, which resulted in 46% polyploid material, 66.0% homodiploid material, and 12.5% tetraploid material out of the total number of plants in the experiment. Scientific and methodological recommendations "Overcoming Genomic Incompatibility in Oats" were developed. During the hybridization of cultivated oat samples, 496 hybrid grains were obtained from 112 combinations with a seed set percentage of 14.6% (maximum - 83.3% and minimum - 2.5%). In the cultivated oat hybrid nursery, 5372 samples from 583 combinations were studied, and the best heterozygous (1734) and homozygous (525) lines, and 6827 elite plants were selected. The selection percentage was 64.3% in F2, 85.0% in F3, 50.4% in F4, 32.5% in F5, 38.6% in F6, 43.2% in F7, and 65.0% in F8. In the breeding and control nurseries of cultivated oat, 189 samples were selected for productivity, lodging resistance, disease resistance, plant uniformity, and panicle shape compared to the standards – Zakat for hulled and Skarb Ukrainy for hull-less samples. In the preliminary and competitive variety trials, 35 hulled cultivated oat samples were identified that surpassed the Zakat standard in yield by 0.5 to 2.2 t/ha, and 15 hull-less samples that exceeded Product Description popup.authors Oleksandr Kuz'menko Lydmila NECHYPORENKО Nataliia S.
