The goal of the project is to develop new tools for modelling the transport of radioactive contamination in the marine environment, based on advanced theories of physicochemical processes of contamination transport and methods for assimilating measurement data and their implementation in a pilot web-based system for analysing and predicting radioactive contamination of the Black Sea after potential accidents. The report presents the results of the project tasks, which include: Development of a model of organic particle sinking in the ocean, taking into account the relationship between the processes of immersion and particle degradation under the influence of biochemical processes and a model of scavenging of radioactive tracers, taking into account remineralization and the slow reversible stage of sorption, supplemented by a model of radionuclide migration in bottom sediments, taking into account the processes of remineralization of organic particles, processes of pore water displacement and the slow stage of sorption; Generation of an ensemble of meteorological conditions and atmospheric precipitation for a selected radiation accident scenario using mesoscale meteorology and atmospheric transport models; Development of a method of assimilation of data into a marine model of radionuclide transport and its preliminary testing on artificial measurement data; Preparation of components of an information system for analyzing and forecasting radioactivity in the Black Sea: system databases, system web interface, software tools for entering measurement data and input information.
