Purpose of the study – using biotechnological and physiological-genetic research methods, to select highly adaptive cereal material characterized by resistance to abiotic stresses. Research methods – in vitro tissue culture, field and laboratory experiments, statistical analysis. Results. In vitro screening and selection of winter wheat cultivars for resistance to water deficit were conducted using mannitol as a stress-inducing agent. Biotechnological and laboratory techniques for assessing and selecting cereal genotypes resistant to abiotic stresses were modified and optimized. Most winter wheat samples required a vernalization period of 30–40 days and exhibited weak photoperiodic sensitivity. A comprehensive evaluation of the adaptive potential of the best winter bread wheat collection samples was carried out based on a set of economically valuable traits and the following sources were identified: Pavlina, Zorepad Bilotserkivskyi, T-51, Turkoaz, Fotima, Aniya, MV Lepeny, Bodycek, Manella, Afina, Lan Tian W57-6, and G95-2-1-2. Five utility model patents and methodological recommendations were prepared.
