In total, 423 specimens were studied, the majority of which belong to ray‑finned fishes and sharks. The latter represent the most diverse group (13 families, 5 orders), dominated by sand tiger sharks (Carchariidae) and requiem sharks (Carcharhinidae). Ninety‑two per cent of the examined ray‑finned fish specimens belong to representatives of the family Sparidae. For the first time in the Precarpathian Basin, the presence of five‑gilled sawsharks Pristiophorus sp., as well as Araloselachus vorax and Raja gentili, has been established, while Trigonodon jugleri and Diplodus sitifensis were documented for the first time in the north‑western part of the investigated region. The data obtained support the concept of continuity in the evolution of ichthyofaunas across different basins of the Paratethys during the Miocene. A series of ray‑finned fish remains from Lower Badenian deposits near the settlements of Hlukhivets and Rozvadiv in Lviv Region has also been described. In total, 16 fish taxa were identified, belonging to the families Sphyraenidae, Trichiuridae, Labridae, Acanthuridae, Sparidae, Tetraodontidae, and Diodontidae. Acanthurus haueri, Oligodiodon sp., Diodontidae gen. et sp. indet., Tetraodontiformes indet., and the orders they represent are recorded for the first time within the Precarpathian Basin. An early Sarmatian vertebrate assemblage has been described from the Kharaluh locality (Rivne Region). Fish remains were assigned to 5 genera and 3 families (Cyprinidae, Siluridae, and Percidae), among which perches are represented by the largest number of bones. The taxonomic composition of this palaeoassemblage is relatively poor and appears similar to assemblages of the Bessarabian stage of development of the Eastern Paratethys.
