The study substantiates the relevance of shifting from energy-related to non-energy applications of domestic brown coal, particularly due to its high content of valuable humic substances. Brown coal from the Mokra Kalyhirka deposit was sampled and analyzed, its key physicochemical characteristics were determined, and the efficiency of hydrodynamic cavitation as a method for intensifying the extraction of humic acids was evaluated. It was demonstrated that hydrocavitation enables a yield of humic acids exceeding 70%, significantly outperforming traditional alkaline extraction methods (38–39%). Mathematical dependencies describing the influence of cavitation parameters on the extraction process were obtained, and changes in the structure and composition of coal-derived products after cavitational activation were identified. The chemical properties of the extracted humates were studied, confirming their suitability as a basis for sorbents capable of binding toxic heavy metals (Pb, Cd, Cu, Ni, Zn) in contaminated soils. The obtained results form a scientific foundation for the development of effective technologies for the purification and restoration of degraded territories, which is critically important for Ukraine in the context of post-war environmental rehabilitation.
