The task of this project is to study the parameters of ferroelectric single crystals with the general formula M1M2P2S(Se)6 (where M is a metal), including layered 2D (for example, CuInP2S6) and bulk 3D (Sn2P2S6) crystal structures, in the terahertz range. These materials combine semiconductor, semiconductor, ferroelectric and non-linear optical properties, which makes them particularly promising for optoelectronic applications. The main objective is to find new materials from this family suitable for various optoelectronic and terahertz applications. As a result of the project, new fundamental data will be obtained on the parameters of a new class of layered chalcogenide materials in the spectral range, where there are currently practically no experimental data, and the first demonstrations of the use of materials of this type for functional elements of terahertz photonics are expected.
