The original preparation methods and their combination for preparing the high-entropy boride powders with improved specific surface: sol-gel method, high-energy mechanical alloying and zone melting will be used. The XRD, SEM, TEM, EDX, DSC, TG and laser diffraction methods are planned to characterize structure, specific surface, phase and chemical composition, and oxidation behavior of as-prepared powders. The electrochemical performance of HEB particles as an electrode will be characterized in asymmetric and bisymmetric device configurations. popup.description2 As a result of the work, the new high-entropy borides of transition metals were obtained in the form of finely dispersed single-crystal fibers with an increased specific surface area for use in highly efficient energy storage devices that can operate in extreme operating conditions. To obtain dispersed high-entropy boride materials with an increased specific surface area, an original method of crucible-free zone melting of unsintered powder compacts was used, followed by chemical etching of the obtained eutectic composites in concentrated nitric acid (56%). The microstructure features and phase composition of the obtained directionally solidified eutectic LaB6-(Ті0.2Zr0.2Hf0.2Nb0.2Ta0.2)B2 alloy, as well as the fibers of highentropy diboride (Ti0.2Zr0.2Hf0.2Nb0.2Ta0.2)B2 were studied. It was established that grown at a speed of 1-4 mm/min. eutectic composites represents a matrix of lanthanum hexaboride directionally reinforced in the direction of growth with the fibers of highentropy (Ti0.2Zr0.2Hf0.2Nb0.2Ta0.2)B2 diboride with a diameter of 0.33-0.84+0.1 μm. The fibers with a diameter of 0.31-0.74+0.1 μm were obtained by chemical etching of the grown composites represent pure single-crystal high-entropy (Ti0.2Zr0.2Hf0.2Nb0.2Ta0.2)B2 diboride without lanthanum hexaboride impurities. The obtained high-entropy (Ti0.2Zr0.2Hf0.2Nb0.2Ta0.2)B2 diboride is planned to be used in the future for the manufacture of energy storage devices, as well as for testing in real operating conditions.
