Using cytological analysis with light microscopy, it was determined that after cold treatment, the majority of microspores in anthers from closed, medium-sized buds are at the vacuolated microspore stage. The system of chemical and physical stress factors for initiating direct in vitro androgenesis in sugar beet anthers includes the application of low-temperature stress using a refrigerated chamber at 4–8 °C for storing branches with buds from seed plants for 10–20 days, followed by placement on modified MS nutrient media supplemented with amino acids, vitamins, growth regulators, and moisture-retaining agents—betaine and trehalose. For the initiation of embryoidogenesis and the cultivation of embryoids, the best results, with an embryoid formation frequency of 10.5–15.1%, were obtained on media 5-3, 5-3, and 7-4B containing polystimulin and abscisic acid (ABA).
