The aim of the study was to investigate the species composition, structure, and characteristics of helminth assemblages in birds from different habitats, as well as to assess the impact of urbanization on infection parameters. The material was collected using non-invasive methods across several regions of Ukraine, with the involvement of the public and wildlife rehabilitation centers. In total, more than 100 bird individuals representing 45 species were examined, and additional museum material of corvids was analyzed. Helminths were identified based on morphological and molecular genetic characteristics, and modern statistical methods were applied for data analysis. More than 3,000 specimens belonging to 60 helminth species, including nematodes, trematodes, cestodes, and acanthocephalans, were recorded. Analysis of the helminth fauna of the hooded crow revealed a decrease in species richness and parasite abundance in urban populations compared to natural ones. The obtained results indicate a simplification of parasite assemblage structure in urban environments and support the potential realization of the Enemy Release Hypothesis for urban bird populations.
