The MSODR-E will provide: • Comprehensive assessment of environmental parameters (radiation background, temperature, pressure, humidity, air pollution, etc.). • Easy to use interface for analyzing, displaying and interpreting data in real time. • Flexible structural configuration to adapt to user needs. An important element of the project is the adaptation of the system for installation on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), which will create prerequisites for monitoring the radiation background in large areas. popup.description2 The report presents interim research results performed at the High Energy Physics Department of the Institute for Nuclear Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine during the first stage of the scientific project in 2025 on the development of a mobile environmental radiation monitoring system (MRMS-E). Technical requirements have been established based on experience with RMS-R3 in the LHCb experiment. Software architecture has been developed: internal system requirements were defined from the end-user perspective, based on which user interface implementation and environment configuration on Raspberry Pi 5 were carried out, remote access functions were implemented, session-based data storage and software integration into the Raspberry operating system were realized, and work on data processing software was initiated. The feasibility of using existing detectors in the modular mobile monitoring system was examined. Metal detectors, metal foil detectors (MFD), metal-semiconductor detectors (MSD), silicon detectors, gas discharge detectors, scintillation detectors, and various environmental sensors were considered. Prototypes of some detectors were created and tested. Monte Carlo simulations were performed for different detector types to determine lower detection thresholds and predict the evolution of detector response under increasing particle beam fluxes (neutrons, beta and gamma radiation). A compact independent power supply system based on LiFePO4 batteries was developed. Energy efficiency was achieved through voltage balancing for individual elements of the mobile monitoring system.
