The following main principal results were obtained under stage 1: 1) We investigated the structure of thermally reduced graphene oxide (trGO), which was annealed at 500ºС and 700ºC, using the X-ray diffraction method. In the diffraction patterns obtained from trGO at 500ºС and 700ºC, an additional narrow maximum appears, which can be characterized by the formation of metal-oxygen bonds in graphene layers. Further heating to 700ºC leads to the formation of an additional phase with an identity period one and a half times longer than the main one. This process is caused by the deformation (corrugation) of densely packed trGO layers due to the formation of defects. 2) A methodology for the production of polymer-carbon composites based on chitosan with the addition of graphene oxide with different concentrations (from 1 to 40 wt. %) has been developed. 3) We have conducted preliminary studies of the structure and morphology of the resulting polymer-carbon composites using X-ray diffractometry, IR- and Raman spectroscopy. 4) We have prepared 4 reports at international scientific conferences, and we are currently preparing 1 article for publication in a specialized scientific journal.
