A new variety of red clover, Liubava, was developed and registered (Certificate No. 230946 dated October 31, 2023), and the hybrid clover variety Stebnychanka was submitted for state scientific and technical examination (Application No. 2025156001 dated November 11, 2025). Five collection samples of red clover (PLiubava, P2533, P2534, DF2119, P2202) and four samples of hybrid clover (P2020, P2014, P2015, DF2476) were registered in the National Center for Genetic Resources of Plants of Ukraine (NCGRPU). New initial breeding material was developed: for red clover – 12 hybrid populations and 19 breeding samples, for hybrid clover – 5 and 9 respectively. Sources were selected based on traits such as winter hardiness, regrowth rate, uniform green mass formation, yield, leafiness, number of inflorescences, 1000-seed weight, and disease resistance. The adaptability of the samples was assessed, confirming their stability and potential. Breeding indices proved effective in the comprehensive evaluation of the initial material. Promising forage-oriented samples (Truskavchanka, No. 2455, No. 2454) and hybrid clover samples with high protein content (No. 1720, No. 710, No. 2020, No. 2476) were identified, with green mass yields up to 44.5 t/ha, dry matter – up to 7.51 t/ha, seed yield – up to 0.36 t/ha, and protein content up to 20.1%.
