Currently, 701 accessions (280 legumes and 421 grasses) are under study. Between 2021 and 2025, the collection was expanded by 563 accessions, including 201 legumes and 362 grasses, of which 76 (52 legumes and 24 grasses) were added in 2025. Based on the analysis of valuable traits, sources were identified and breeding material was developed – 137 accessions, including 17 hybrid populations. In 2025, 39 new accessions and 7 populations were created. Winter hardiness, yield, disease resistance, and ornamental qualities were assessed. High-yielding accessions of clover, timothy grass, and perennial ryegrass were identified. The passport database includes 1,797 accessions, of which 652 (249 legumes, 403 grasses) were transferred to the Central Database between 2021 and 2025, including 130 (49 legumes, 81 grasses) in 2025. The seed fund at the National Genebank holds 1,317 accessions (571 legumes, 746 grasses), with 531 accessions (263 legumes, 268 grasses) added over the past five years. Eight accessions were used for the development of new varieties, and another 35 were transferred to scientific institutions, including in Lithuania. Morphological characterization enabled the selection and registration of 28 accessions, six of which were registered in 2025. Six trait-specific collections have been registered, three of them in the current year. Four new grass varieties have been developed. In 2025, three promising lines were submitted for State Testing: Festuca SF 902 (PFZ 00902), Phleum SF 2424 (PFZ 02424), and Trifolium SF 2020 (UJ 0601078).
