It was found that winter wheat provided significantly higher yields: after soybeans (7.06 - 7.14 t/ha, with a conditional net income of 37701 - 38124 UAH/ha and profitability of 143.5 - 145.9%) when sowing in the period from October 1 to 20 against the background of root top dressing on frozen soil with ammonium nitrate at a dose of N30; which is 0.85 t/ha higher than after its predecessor sunflower. Winter barley provided significantly higher yields after sunflower (5.46 t/ha, with a conditional net income of 26,083 UAH/ha and profitability of 103.3%) against the background of root top dressing with ammonium nitrate at a dose of N30 when applied to frozen soil.
