During this period, 10,000 crosses were made, 170 self-pollinated lines of sweet corn of various subspecies and maturity groups were created, 760 numbers were sown in collection nurseries for study and maintenance in a viable state, 50 lines created in previous years were tested, 174 lines were involved in the creation of hybrid combinations, and 232 hybrids for food use were obtained. In the course of the work, 20 new self-pollinated lines of sweet corn of different maturity groups with high taste qualities were created and selected based on a set of breeding traits. They were included in the database of the main breeding traits of sweet corn. Over the course of two years, 157 of the best lines were selected based on the main breeding characteristics and technological indicators. They were transferred to the National Center for Genetic Resources of Ukraine for study and long-term storage. They will also be used in crossbreeding to obtain new hybrid combinations of sweet corn. A total of 119 hybrids were studied in control nurseries, 86 hybrids in the preliminary variety testing nursery, and 92 hybrids in the competitive variety testing nursery. Criteria were developed for the selection of new corn source material for the breeding of adaptive and technological hybrids for food use. In 2025, the Damir sugar corn hybrid, adapted to the arid conditions of the Ukrainian Steppe, was submitted for state variety testing. One sugar corn hybrid, Yevgeliya, was entered into the State Register of Plant Varieties Suitable for Distribution in Ukraine. Product Description popup.authors Oksana Y.
