A tendency to decrease in individual height and width linear body measurements of first-born cows compared to animals evaluated in the 1980s was established: height at the withers – by 4 cm (P˃0.999), chest depth – 6 cm (P˃0.999), chest girth behind the shoulder blades – 18 cm (P˃0.999). Modern cows are characterized by lower body weight development (compression index) by 12.1% (P˃0.999), but are distinguished by better milk yield – by 16 kg (P˃0.99). In the milking period, according to growth indicators, no significant difference between offspring obtained from different sires was established. The influence of the father on the live weight of young animals at the age of 6 months is 3.5%. The calculated correlation between exterior indicators and milk yield of cows ranged from -0.064 to +0.214. In animals of the Ukrainian Grey breed, there is a low, direct correlation between milk yield and metatarsal girth – 0.214±0.0909 (P˃0.95). A database of cattle of the Ukrainian Grey breed, evaluated by exterior indicators (n=204), has been formed. The parameters of the desired exterior type of animals of the Ukrainian Grey breed of cattle have been developed. The electronic database of breeding records (n=267) has been updated and a collection of genetic material of cattle (n=276) of the breeding plant for breeding the Ukrainian Grey breed of DPDG “Polyvanivka” of the State Institute of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences has been formed.
