It was demonstrated that the introduction of resistant cultivars alone does not fully solve the problem of plant protection, since in interacting “cultivar–phytopathogen” systems a shift in fungal life-history strategies occurs, determining long-term dynamics of their populations and epiphytotic development. A methodology for selecting wheat cultivars capable of restraining the accumulation of phytopathogenic mycobiomass in agrophytocenoses at an environmentally safe level under modern cultivation technologies was developed. It was established that cultivar-specific traits of wheat are an important factor regulating the phytopathogenic mycobiome of leaves, seeds, and the rhizosphere: the cultivars Skagen and Darunok Podillia form a significantly lower phytopathogenic background compared with Kraievyd and Berehynia Myronivska, which is associated with their high ecological adaptability and elevated polyphenol content. It was shown that the biopreparation Trichodermin BT suppresses Fusarium oxysporum and Alternaria alternata more effectively than chemical fungicides and induces changes in fungal life-history strategies. Based on the obtained results, a methodology for selecting winter wheat cultivars and hybrids was developed, the application of which contributes to reducing the phytopathogenic background and biological contamination of agroecosystems.
