The characteristics that are decisive in the evaluation of breeding material of medicinal and essential oil crops in terms of the quality indicators of medicinal plant raw materials were identified. Promising samples selected Mentha, Lavanda angustifolia, Astragalus falcatus Lam., Origanum vulgareL., Achillea millefolium L. at the stages of the selection process; the indicators obtained for the main economically valuable characteristics in the samples studied exceed the corresponding analogues by 4-32%.
