Based on trait analysis, promising accessions were selected for plant height, leaf characteristics, shoot formation, winter hardiness, regrowth ability, and seed productivity. New initial breeding material was developed using hybridization, individual–family, and mass selection methods, resulting in hybrid populations and breeding lines of both species. Competitive variety trials allowed the identification of one promising red fescue line and two promising perennial ryegrass lines. These lines demonstrated high yields of green mass, dry matter, and seeds. The results confirm their high breeding value and potential for further cultivar development.
