Purpose of the work: substantiation of institutional and economic aspects of ensuring the competitive development of agricultural enterprises at the regional level. In the process of solving the tasks set, abstract-logical, economic-statistical and other research methods are used. The theoretical and methodological basis of the research is the fundamental provisions of economic theory, the study of the problems of competitiveness of the agricultural sector in the works of domestic and foreign scientists. Results and novelty of the study: theoretical and applied aspects of improving the institutional and economic mechanism for ensuring the competitive development of agricultural enterprises at the regional level are substantiated. Using the example of the Lviv region, the institutional and economic mechanism for supporting the agricultural sector is revealed. The formation of a nominal land owner as a result of the implemented distributive land reform and the resulting tendency to concentrate land ownership are highlighted as key institutional and economic problems in the development of the agricultural sector of Ukraine. The work reveals the conceptual principles of improving the institutional and economic environment for the functioning of agricultural enterprises at the regional level. The results of the study can be used to manage the competitiveness of agricultural enterprises and improve state and regional agricultural policy.
