The aim of the research is to optimize the cultivation of sorghum crops as green manure through the application of bacterial preparations and biological stubble destructors under natural moisture conditions of the Southern Steppe of Ukraine, in order to restore soil fertility in frontline and combat-affected areas in the post-war period by increasing the input of plant biomass, reducing chemical loads, and reclaiming southern chernozem soils. A comprehensive analysis and numerous empirical studies have shown that even under extremely arid conditions of the Southern Steppe of Ukraine, particularly in 2024–2025, the cultivation of sorghum crops ensures the formation of substantial biomass (10.94–22.32 t/ha) suitable for use as green manure. This plays a decisive role in restoring the nutrient regime and improving the fertility of southern chernozem soils, which are crucial for the stability of agricultural production in the region. The innovative achievements of the project authors in sorghum cultivation technology, combined with the strategic application of biological products specifically designed for the rapid decomposition of biomass produced by sorghum crops, have demonstrated a high potential in the Southern Steppe zone of Ukraine (up to 70–80 t/ha) under favorable conditions and sufficient natural moisture. This undoubtedly provides significant opportunities for agricultural producers not only to effectively restore but also to improve soil fertility. Restoration and improvement of soil quality are extremely important issues, especially in regions that have suffered the tragic consequences of military actions and subsequent soil degradation, which have severely undermined agricultural viability and the development potential of these territories.
