MT Rylsky National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine popup.description1 The purpose of the work is to collect an array of eyewitness accounts of the Russian-Ukrainian war (in particular, the stage of the large-scale invasion of the troops of the aggressor state) about the experienced events and practices life support of the population of Kyiv region during 2022-2023; prepare a collection for printing source materials "Kyiv is unbreakable: testimonies of eyewitnesses of the Russian-Ukrainian war" from introductory analytical part and scientific apparatus (editorial comments, subject-thematic and geographical indexes); to test the obtained results in the course of performances on conferences, round tables, symposia; present the collected materials and previous ones work of the Institute on Cultural Heritage of Ukraine in educational and cultural and expert circles in the Kyiv region. popup.description2 During the second stage of the research project “Modern Military Everyday Life of Kyiv Region Communities: Cultural and Anthropological Dimension”, conducted from January to December 2025, the research team (Ph.D. in History, research fellow K. M. Bekh; research fellow O. M. Holovko; Ph.D. in History, research fellow O. V. Diedush; Ph.D. in History, research fellow O. Yu. Kolomyichuk) carried out 21 field expeditions within Kyiv region. The study covered 19 settlements; interviews were conducted with 25 eyewitnesses of the Russian-Ukrainian war; 27 hours and 39 minutes (1,659 minutes) of audio recordings were documented; and a visual corpus consisting of several hundred photographs was accumulated, reflecting the realities of wartime everyday life in communities across Kyiv region. Based on interviews recorded in 2024–2025, 1,505 A4 pages of transcribed text were prepared. The processed field materials were systematized and submitted for publication in the source collection “Kyiv Region is Unbroken: Testimonies of Eyewitnesses of the Russian-Ukrainian War” (Kyiv, 2025).
