The main goal of the research project is to develop scientific and methodological principles for creating haploproducers with increased induction ability for the breeding of new maize germplasm. The tasks of the project involved creating, on the basis of modern theoretical approaches, new haploproducers with enhanced ability to induce haploids, which ensures a significant increase in the efficiency of the breeding process. During 2021–2024, an information base was formed regarding the genetic mechanisms of inheritance of haploinducing ability in maize haploproducer lines. An analysis was carried out of marker genes and the peculiarities of their expression in genotypes of different origin. Recommendations were developed and substantiated for the selection of haploproducers depending on their ability to induce matroclinous haploids in various germplasms, which made it possible to improve crossing schemes and methods for evaluating induction ability. A working collection of initial breeding material was formed, and 150 matroclinous maize haploids suitable for diploidization and further breeding selection were obtained. Within the reporting stage of 2025, “Creation of homozygous maize haploproducers based on marker genes”, a complex of field and laboratory studies using molecular-genetic methods was carried out. A collection of homozygous haploproducers identified by marker genes was formed, and three highly effective lines with consistently enhanced induction ability, confirmed by field and laboratory trials, were selected.
